The weight I carry
Did you know that you can't process a lie? What do I mean when I say that? Well it's very interesting! As you probably already know your brain can be very logical at times, it's really amazing on how it processes information! But there are some down sides to how our brain works. Our brain can't handle the negative, for example if you were a skier, you hit a patch of trees, and you think, "Don't hit a tree, don't hit a tree" all your brain can 'hear' is tree, so all you see is trees. On the other hand if you told yourself "find the path, find the path" then you can see the path, and not hit a tree. Because our brain can't process the negative, it can cause problems when we entertain thoughts and our brain takes it as real, have you ever sat and thought about food and then you start to salivate? Well, that's just because your brain think that thought is real and starts to prepare to eat the food. There is definitely a down side to this, when you watch a scary movie with zombies in it, you will get scared and start to look around for zombies even though you know there not there, this is because your brain takes the false information and takes it as real.
Here is an example of what your brain does when the info is true. You are hiking and you run into a bear, the part of your brain that makes decisions gets hijacked. So does the other part of your brain that deals with needs, like sleep or hunger, next time your in a life or death situation I promise you won't be thinking about what your going to have for dinner. Anyway, the part that deals with fight or flight will take over and control what you do next. You will have a faster heart rate which will help get the adrenaline to where it needs to go, this will help with what you will do next. After that you will try and decide if you should fight or run away and that's that. Please note that some people will actually have a slower heart rate and they will freeze, and a lot of blood will rush to their heads and most likely make them faint.
I bring this all up to tell you that the brain is an incredible thing, it keeps us alive, it will react to life and death situation and thoughts you entertain, this is where anxiety comes in.
Anxiety is a reaction to thoughts we entertain. This is a totally normal response for the body, it's your body trying to figure out the best way to handle the worst of situations and for many people this is kinda out of control. They are constantly try to cope with their physical reaction to thoughts they entertain. To help with this they need to trust themselves more and cheer themselves on...but only with truth because or body can't handle the false.
